It's December 31, 2010, the post for "Heart of Glory" posted earlier this morning, and it is officially the one year anniversary of Treknobabble. Last December 31st, we went online with our review and podcast for The Cage, and here we are now with three seasons of TOS, the Animated Series, and most of season 1 of TNG under our belts. I have to say it's been an absolute blast, because not only is Star Trek something I love, watching for the blog has given me a new appreciation for it. It's also been great talking to and meeting all the other fans out there, especially those of you we met at the convention. So here's hoping everyone out there has a fantastic New Year's Eve and a stellar 2011!

Introduction

Introduction

Introduction

The Enterprise happens upon the legendary planet Atlantis Aldea. They are possessed of magnificent technology and offer to share it with the Federation. But their apparent generosity comes at a price. Due to causes unknown to at least the Aldeans, they can no longer bear children. Faced with extinction, they kidnap a handful of Enterprise children with the goal of passing on their ancient culture to a new group of Aldeans. Introduction

The Enterprise puts in for repairs at Starbase 74. The Enterprise is due for routine maintenance and the upgrade of several of its systems. The repairs are being overseen by a quartet of aliens called Bynars. They work in pairs and exist is perfect sync with each other and the massive computer on their homeworld. Their unique connection with their computer allows them to effect repairs faster than any human could. While the rest of the crew leaves the Enterprise to explore Starbase 74, Commander Riker goes to the holodeck, where the Bynars have already affect some amazing work. There he meets Minuet, a woman who, hologram or not, seems too good to be true. Who is this mysteriously holographic woman? And what other plans have the Bynars made for the Enterprise?

Introduction

In search of survivors from the missing freighter Odin, the crew of the Enterprise visits Angel One, a planet ruled by matriarchy, in which the old gender roles of Earth's past have been reversed. It turns out that the survivors are threatening the balance of Angel One's culture, by being... all manly and stuff.

Introduction

The Enterprise makes a brief detour from its mission to pay a brief visit to Omicron Theta, the planet where Data was discovered 23 years ago. There was once a thriving colony of scientists there, but now, there is nothing, not even bacteria in the soil. Attempting to unravel the mystery, they discover another android that looks just like Data. Though they look identical, this other android, Lore, is very different. He seems to have emotions that Data lacks. Does Lore know more than he is telling about the fate of the colonists? Was he somehow responsible?

Introduction

En route to a critical diplomatic meeting with the insectoid Jarada species, Picard takes the advice of Counselor Troi and relaxes in the holodeck. Choosing a favorite genre fantasy from his reading, Picard portrays the character of Dixon Hill, a hard-boiled detective from the early twentieth century. He is so excited by the experience that he invites Dr. Crusher, Data, and Earth Historian Whelan along for his next visit. Fate deals them a wild card, though, when a Jaradan probe sends the holodeck into malfunction - trapping them inside, and putting them in mortal danger. Will Picard escape the holodeck in time, and intact?

 And will Beverly ever forgive the rest of the crew for the grievous cock-blocking they perpetrate against her?

Introduction

The Enterprise, in orbit around the planet Haven, is visited by Lwaxana Troi, Counselor Troi's mother. When Deanna was a child her parents betrothed her to the child of family friends. That family has reappeared, seeking to fulfill that marriage vow. Though the young doctor she is to marry seems kind, Deanna will have to give up her life aboard the Enterprise to marry him. To make matters worse, the two families soon start bickering over details. Making matters more dangerous is the appearance of a Tarellian plague ship. Long believed extinct, these group of eight survivors have come to Haven to die. Captain Picard must now balance the desire of these people to live their last days under an open sky with the risk they present to the population, while dealing with possibly losing a valued crew member.
