Introduction

The station receives its first visitor from the Gamma Quadrant, an alien that only identifies himself as "Tosk." His ship was damaged, but he won't tell them why. He won't tell them much of anything in fact. Chief O'Brien discovers Tosk's ship was damaged by weapons fire, but Tosk refuses to tell them more. Chief O'Brien has been introducing Tosk to life around the station, and has grown to like him, and wants to give him the benefit of the doubt. Matters are complicated are when aliens calling themselves Hunters follow Tosk through the wormhole. They say Tosk is hunted for sport on their world, and they will not stop at violence to get him back. The Prime Directive seems to bind Sisko's hands, but what about Chief O'Brien's?

Introduction

Introduction

Odo spots a criminal he arrested during the Occupation back on the station. He attempts to remove him, but without evidence of some new crime, Sisko will not allow it. That man is found dead in a holosuite shortly thereafter. The computer records that no one else entered or exited the room, leaving the only suspect the one person on the station who could get in and out undetected: Odo himself.

Looks like Miles lost the "compromise."

Introduction

Introduction

The Cardassians have at long last withdrawn from Bajor. The newly formed provisional government has asked for Starfleet's assistance in rebuilding their ravaged world. The Cardassian mining station in orbit has been rechristened Deep Space Nine and command has been given to Command Benjamin Sisko.  Tasked with helping Bajor rebuild, ideally one day joining the Federation, he must also contend with the Cardassians who may view their own withdrawal as temporary, raising a son in his own after his wife was killed in the Battle of Wolf 359, and a volatile, divided society trying to fill the power vaccuum left by the Cardassians. Can he? What will the consequences for Bajor and the Federation be if he cannot?

Holy overexposure, Batman! This must really be annoying the home audience!

Introduction

Coming hot off the heels of the TNG series finale, writing team Ronald D. Moore and Brannon Braga are handed a tough task - meld the two franchises in a coherent manner so that the movie franchise can be handed over to the new crew. How in the heck do you achieve this when it is firmly established that these iterations are 80 years apart? Well, the Nexus. How well did Moore And Braga implement the concept in a short amount of time?

Let the word go forth: We'd rather wear these uniforms than ill-fitting DS9 duds.

Top 5 Trek: Geordi Episodes

Ah, Geordi. Unlucky at love, luckier with warp plasma manifolds. LeVar Burton was the closest thing to an A-list actor that TNG started out with, but he really didn't get a ton to do. Moving to engineering certainly helped his character's fortunes, but he was also saddled with lots of treknobabble and expository scenes. Burton did a great job with both thankless tasks, if you ask us.

But every once in a while, the writers threw him a bone. Here are my picks for his best outings in Trek.

Timeless (VOY Season 5)

This alternate future episode features Geordi as captain of the USS Challenger. It was really cool to see LeVar Burton without any eye covering, in full captain's uniform, at he helm of a Galaxy Class starship. It's also cool that Burton got to direct the episode.
