Introduction
Spock begins to exhibit strange emotional behavior, even lashing out at the crew. He makes a cryptic demand to return home to Vulcan, which Captain Kirk, of course, obliges. He learns that his first officer and friend is going through the pon farr. He must return home and take a mate or the chemical changes in his body that are stripping him of his emotional control will eventually kill him.
Oh no she didn't!
This is a great episode, top to bottom. We learn a lot about Spock and Vulcans in general, and a solid script is bolstered by some great acting and some stellar production design. For reasons that are discussed at length in the podcast, Matt gave this a 5 and Kevin gave it a 4 for a total of 9, A great addition to the franchise and a wonderful way to open Season 2.
